The Hanco Scholarship

The Hanco Scholarship is awarded annually to two Big Red Rugby athletes (youth or high school). This scholarship covers league dues and equipment for the season, helping athletes continue to grow both on and off the pitch.

How to Apply

To be considered, applicants must submit their response using the official online application form below:

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a one-page essay addressing the following:

• What rugby has meant to you

• How you demonstrate leadership on and off the rugby pitch

All applications must be submitted by:
May 1

Late submissions will not be considered.

About the Scholarship

“The Hanco Scholarship is awarded to athletes who exemplify the attributes of its namesake, Hanco Germishuys.

Born in South Africa, Hanco relocated to Omaha in 2004 and quickly rose through the rugby ranks. He represented the United States at the U18 level before becoming a USA Eagle in 2016. Following his international and professional career, Hanco retired from rugby, leaving a legacy of leadership, discipline, and excellence.”
